The Computer Science department maintains two departmental wide email lists to facilitate intra departmental communication. If you are a computer science student, you will be automatically subscribed to the designated listserv. This help file describes what email lists are maintained by the department and how to add yourself to these lists.
If you are looking for a listserv associated with a particular class see your instructor for specific instructions on how to add / remove yourself from the list.
The two listservs available to students are the cs-under and cs-grad as follows:
cs-under@listserv.tamu.edu
Computer Science Department Undergraduate Students
The cs-under@listserv.tamu.edu is open to all undergraduate
students who have declared computer science as their major.
cs-grad@listserv.tamu.edu
Computer Science Department Graduate Students
The cs-grad@listserv.tamu.edu is open to all students registered at
the graduate level within the department (n.b. you do not need to be a teaching
or research assistant within the computer science department, but merely
enrolled.)
The mailing list software automatically unsubscribes readers whose email accounts are consistently unavailable or generate repeated bounces, for this reason we ask that you do not forward your cs department mail to servers off-campus (like yahoo or hotmail).
In order to help control the listservs only cs or tamu email accounts may be
subscribed to the listservs. i.e your email address needs to be of the form
joe1234@cs.tamu.edu or joe1234@tamu.edu.
To subscribe for the cs-under listserv you need to send an email from your cs or A&M email account to the Computer Science Helpdesk - helpdesk@cs.tamu.edu, or come by the helpdesk in room HRBB 210.
To subscribe for the cs-grad listserv list you need to send an email from your cs or A&M email account to the communications officer of the Computer Science graduate students association. For the 2005-2006 academic year the communications officer is Kaustav Ghoshal and his e-mail address is kg@cs.tamu.edu. Send any further inquires pertaining to the cs-grad list to him.
