Off-Campus Access to CS Computers via VPN using Mac
Introduction
The Department of Computer Science computers are located inside the TAMU Firewall.
To access the Department of Computer Science computers via Ethernet, DSL or
cable modem from outside of the firewall, you must activate your virtual
private network (VPN) account. VPN will allow you to access secured TAMU
information resources.

For Macintosh users:
To set up VPN for Macintosh users, follow these instructions.
Procedure

Click on Go from the toolbar at the top of your desktop.

Click Applications (Figure 1)

Double-Click Internet Connect (Figure 2)

When the new window pops up click on the VPN button next to Bluetooth (Figure 3)

Once you have clicked on VPN, a new window will open asking for you to configure
a vpn connection for your computer.
Figure 4. Click on PPTP and then Continue.

After clicking Continue, you will see the following window.

As shown in Figure 6:

In the field labeled Server Address, enter vpn.cs.tamu.edu

In the field labeled Account Name, enter your Computer Science username.
(Note this is not necessarily the same as your TAMU username)

In the field labeled Password, enter your Computer Science password.
Figure 6. Click Connect once information is entered.
Note: If you do not remember your Computer Science logon, come into the CS
helpdesk at HRBB 210, bring your TAMU ID and ask for your information.

Once you click Connect the connection will form and you are connected (Figure 7).

To disconnect from vpn, simply click Disconnect shown in Figure 7.
